On February 28, 1992, I was taken to a Lincoln Park,MI emergency clinic at Lynn Hospital where I was treated (six stitches in head) for "falling off a porch". I couldn't talk and my friends who took me there lied to the intake personnel (I don't know why). From there I was taken to Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn,MI for a 10 day intensive care stay, then on to Heritage Hospital in Taylor,MI for 33 days of rehabilitation (I couldn't walk at the time). Click on the document below to view an intake analysis before entering out-patient therapy at the Beaumont Hospital's Barnum Center in Birmingham,MI for 3 months.

After I was assaulted and found out what happened, I assumed I would be okay in a few weeks. I had a difficult time believing that I was headed for long-term disability. I was signed up for Social Security Disability during the rehabilitation process at Heritage Hospital. Click on the document below to see update notes from Dr. Sherry Viola at Beaumont's Barnum Center. The second update is for the State of Michigan for crime victim compensation. I discontinued contact with Dr. Viola after she couldn't adequately explain to me if the grand mal seizures I was experiencing had something to do with the quality of my blood.

In 1994, The State of Michigan's Crime Victims Compensation Board awarded me $1268.Here is proof. Click below on the letter image for the actual letter.

At the beginning of November 1995, I decided that I wasn't being serious enough about recovery. My left hand paralysis wasn't reversing itself. So I decided to seek additional therapy. This may be hard to read but it states that Ralph (guy who assaulted me) is in jail, I collect Social Security, and was struck with a bat. Click below on the document to the actual evaluation.

In January of 1997, I saw the rehabilitation doctor I saw in Heritage Hospital. I had just come back from the Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens, FL and thought I would be recovered at this time. Initially, the paralysis in my left hand was gone. Unfortunately, I didn't know that my healing would require a change in physiology. Nobody took the time to explain it to me. I would spend the next couple of years understanding this. What happened when I returned from Florida is that, I got scared when I went into a primal-type rebirthing process and I attacked my mom's dishwasher. Somewhere in this anger display the paralysis returned to my left hand. Click on the document below to view the update.

In 1998, I wrote a letter to the Michigan Department of Corrections concerning Ralph's release. Click on the image below to read the actual letter. I told the Parole Board I wouldn't oppose his release and that I forgive him for his baseball bat assault.
In the letter I mention that if
Ralph "performs well" when released, the opinion of
people who believe the correctional system doesn't rehabilitate people will be in question. Many people get out of the correctional system only to return, and the "lockem up
throwaway the key" crowd gets more proof for their viewpoint.

In September of 1998, The Melvindale Police Department took me to Wyandotte Hospital because I got upset with my mother for not doing more to help me. I moved into the public housing facility located in Melvindale. I had to have at the time a medical analysis as part of the admission process to move into Coogan Terrace. Clicking on the image below will show a document which says that I suffer from impulsivity, anger, labile anxiety, but should be able to live independently (something I couldn't do before).

In a Wayne County court agreement, I was ordered to attend an anger management class. Click on the image below for a copy of the June 1999 course completion report.

Although, I still get upset on occasion, the anger management class opened the door to more group therapy attendance. In July of 2000, I started attending support group meetings of the Metro Detroit Center for Attitudinal Healing. Attending these support group meetings has helped me during the process of creating this web site. The principles and guidelines of the group are of a secular nature and I really believe in them. By clicking on either the first or second column from the left side, one will see the Principles of Attitudinal Healing and the Welcome page of our circular we use to start the meetings. By clicking on the third or fourth columns from the left, one will see the Guidelines for Attitudinal Healing Groups and further information about on what Attitudinal Healing is about. The Principles of Attitudinal Healing can also be viewed at the bottom of the CONTACT GREGORY link page.

On March 2, 2001, I saw Dr. Barker again because I wanted to get a subsidized bus pass to ride the Metro Detroit buses. He turned me down saying my disability wasn't extreme enough to qualify for a discounted bus pass. Click on the document below to see the Gregory's most recent assesment.
